Amlodipine besilate
Indications/Uses
Treatment of HTN & prophylaxis of angina.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult HTN, stable & Prinzmetal's angina Usual dose: 5 mg once daily. Max: 10 mg once daily. Chronic stable or vasospastic angina 5-10 mg once daily. Patients w/ CAD 5-10 mg once daily. Childn 6-17 yr HTN 2.5-5 mg once daily. Elderly & patient w/ hepatic insufficiency 5 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Advanced aortic stenosis, severe liver failure, history of shock. Pregnancy, women of childbearing potential, lactation.
Special Precautions
Severe bradycardia, heart failure, cardiogenic shock, left ventricular dysfunction, systolic BP <90 mmHg. Hepatic disease. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Childn <6 yr. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Flushing; fatigue; edema, palpitation; vertigo, headache, drowsiness; abdominal pain, nausea.
